Clever hygiene concepts to ensure safe operations

The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has made hygiene extremely important. One of the biggest challenges has been to keep environments hygienically safe. As a service provider with strong expertise in the field of hygiene, Klüh Multiservices has been able to create substantial value for its clients, making key contributions to infection protection in all divisions. Hygiene measures have been significant both during the lockdown phases and as we return to the new normal.

Cleaning makes a significant contribution to the public good

While many people were able to work from home, cleaners were required to go out and make a significant contribution to public safety. Rapid and absolutely hygienic cleaning suddenly acquired an entirely new meaning. Klüh Cleaning supported its clients with expert advice such as its Covid-19 hygiene and conduct recommendations (German only).

Special disinfection agents track down viruses

Throughout 2020, Klüh Cleaning employees were deployed continuously to combat viruses. They spent many hundreds of hours each month performing disinfection operations. Klüh’s state-certified disinfection technicians trained a number of specially selected cleaners, who were assigned their own company vehicles to enable them to quickly get to buildings requiring disinfection. The total surface area treated was more than 40,000 m². Working with full professional protective equipment, these specialist cleaners performed important disinfection operations for clients to ensure protection against contamination.

Purified breathing air is part of the service

Klüh also offers mobile air purifiers from Airgle. These disinfect ambient air, prevent infection and are effective against the coronavirus. They have proved to be especially useful in office and hospital settings. The air is continuously filtered and sterilised by means of cHEPA filters, activated charcoal filters and UV radiation. These purifiers ensure almost 100% removal of viruses, bacteria and particles. In 2020, Klüh deployed Airgle units from Kenter and i-air units from i-team Global.

SteriSafe and cold fogging in the fight against Covid-19

Klüh uses SteriSafe equipment from Kenter for the rapid and safe disinfection of entire rooms. This equipment works with ozone that it produces itself from the ambient air. In some cases, cold fogging is used. This process utilises hydrogen peroxide but requires complete sealing of the room.

Digital tools to ensure hygienic cleanliness

In 2020, we tested an intelligent add-on and optimisation for DigiClean®, the digital tool developed by Klüh’s Center of Digital Excellence. ‘Bluetooth Beacon’ ensures the transparency of the cleaning service by recording the presence of the cleaner in a room and the time spent there. In future, this will dispense with the need for signed cleaning lists in sanitary facilities or other hygiene-relevant areas. A digital e-paper display showing the services performed will give the users of hygiene-relevant rooms a feeling of safety.

Catering restart supported by Institut Fresenius

In spring 2020, Klüh Catering saw more than 95% of canteens shut down overnight. Ahead of the restart, the company developed a concept integrating all the necessary hygiene measures. This included displays, flyers and digital add-ons as well as extensive external auditing by the renowned Institut Fresenius. All canteens were inspected within a very short time and audited to ensure compliance with hygiene measures.

Airport Service implements biosecurity measure

To make air travel possible during the summer and help boost the economy, Klüh Airport Service employees implemented an extensive range of biosecurity measures. These were intended to prevent the importation and spread of organisms that are harmful to humans, animals and plants but specifically the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The measures included cleaning aircraft cabins and equipping aircraft with additional hygiene articles. In this way, Klüh Airport Service met the requirements specified by the European and international aviation security agencies (EASA and IATA).
