Responsibility

Corporate responsibility was enormously important in 2020

While many companies were still considering their approach to environmental issues in 2019, corporate responsibility suddenly took on an entirely new dimension in 2020. Although Covid-19 has had a negative impact on broad areas of the economy, the aspect of responsibility has become increasingly important in facility management as well. Here it is often a question of how innovative and sustainable service providers really are.

Responsibility has always been one of Klüh's corporate values – responsibility to its employees, the environment, society and the market. These are the four pillars of Klüh's corporate responsibility strategy. In 2020, sustainable management proved to be a key approach although it is something Klüh has applied for many years. It made an important contribution to the company's stability in the past year.

Klüh sets high standards through its own guidelines, especially in respect of personnel, environmental and quality policy.

Klüh promotes knowledge transfer through ISSA

Klüh Service Management GmbH and its international companies are members of ISSA – The Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association. The ISSA Innovation & Education Committee was formed in 2019 to support the organisation in designing and establishing an innovation and training programme. The committee is made up of ten ISSA members including Karl-Heinz Mair, Managing Director International at Klüh.

Recognition through attractive benefits

Klüh quality management evidence of a high degree of responsibility

To reliably ensure maximum customer satisfaction, safety and sustainability, Klüh has implemented comprehensive management systems which are recertified at regular intervals. All Klüh’s divisions and branches have implemented the management systems and operate conscientiously in compliance with these standards. During the coronavirus pandemic, audits were performed remotely. The large number of audits (392) are evidence that the internal control system (ICS) still sets the same high standards, despite adapting its way of working. All planned audits took place.

In addition, 20 external audits were performed by TÜV Austria and a further seven external audits by the German Aviation Agency to ensure compliance with its requirements.

Climate-friendly mobility

With a view to ensuring sustainable, climate-friendly and environmentally compatible mobility, Klüh continued to expand its use of electric cars and vans during 2020.

Klüh also uses the DigiDrive tool in managing its vehicle fleet, which greatly simplifies administration processes. Thanks to digitalisation, it has been possible to reduce the amount of written correspondence usually involved. This in turn has greatly reduced paper consumption.

Cleaning by osmosis

A special osmosis process deployed by Klüh Cleaning ensures clear glass surfaces and is good for the environment. This innovative technology uses special filters to demineralise water so that it can bind dirt particles without the addition of chemical cleaning agents. It is also no longer necessary to wipe off the water or dry the surfaces. Due to the fact that no tensides are used, the glass attracts much less dirt and pollutants that normally adhere to the surface.

Water-fed telescopic poles are used in the osmosis process. First of all, the dirt is loosened with a brush and then rinsed off with the demineralised water. Even bird and fly droppings can be easily removed in this way.

'Ecolution' sustainable cleaning agents

For environmentally friendly cleaning that ensures optimum results and a clear conscience, Klüh Cleaning continued to use 'Ecolution' sustainable cleaning agents from Dr. Schnell.

Cleaning machines leased

Klüh's Cleaning division collaborates with Kärcher Fleet Management and Hako Fleet Management to meet its machine needs.

This enables the company to replace machines that no longer meet sustainability requirements with more modern and efficient models. Kärcher Fleet Management is a web-based portal that provides a seamless overview of machines and activities. In this way, machines can be used more efficiently and fail less frequently. Profitability is increased and transport coordination for use at multiple locations is improved, saving both time and resources. Hako Fleet Management offers similar advantages. Both systems are in use in all branches.
